Hydrotherapy

Country Kennels have a new Hydrotherapy pool installed to offer the latest, up-to-date care for your pets. Hydrotherapy treatment can be of great benefit to a recovering dog from a surgical treatment, injury, broken bone, tendon dammage or even for obesity control. When assisted all dogs will see the swimming as fun ensuring there is as little distress as possible helping towards a quicker recovery by working the dog as it aids in building muscle and keeping the dog fit. The pool is heated (25-27°C degrees), also sanitised to the recommended specification. For easy access the pool has a ramp.

Referrals from veterinary surgeons and insurance claims are welcome.

 

 

Rehabilitation And Therapy Swimming

Hydrotherapy for rehabilitation has been round for many years, first used for humans the benefits were transfered across to industrys such as horse racing and Grey hound racing. With developments over the last few years it has now been possible for pools to be installed into facilities such as ours. Meaning we can offer a better standard of rehabilitation care for you pet. A number of conditions in dogs may be aggravated or show slow or little improvement as a result of weight bearing exercise. The swimming helps to exercise every muscle of the animal´s body helping them regain movement without the risk of further injury.

At Country kennels we offer swimming to all dogs but only with a vet referral, the dog doesn't have to be sick or injured the vet referral is to be sure the dog is suitable for swimming. We can also offer assistitance with insurance claims.

All dogs will swim with a fully trained hydrotherapist, trained at Hawksmoor, the leading training center in hydrotherapy.

We will require a written referral from a veterinary surgeon to confirm that hydrotherapy is the correct treatmet for your dog.

The hydrotherapist and referring veterinary surgeon will create a bespoke hydrotherapy programme for your dog.

The facilities available are a sanitised ensuring high standards of hygene and care.

Dogs requiring Hydrotherapy for rehabilitation will swim under strict supervision. All dogs will swim with a buoyancy aid or a harness and if needed will be assisted in the pool by Dawn, our hydrotherapist.

Prices are £20 a session (45 mins for first session then 30 mins there after) and we offer discount for block bookings. All dogs swim individualy for full one to one attetion.

 

General Fitness

Swimming for dogs as a form of exercise or simply for fun. Hydrotherapy can be used to ensure weight bearing on joints is kept to a minimum. Dogs tend to be able to move around but need exta care and help to loose a few pounds to make life a little easier. Exercises include simply swiming around and general play in the pool sometimes with extra encouragement to retrieve floating toys.

The dogs will be washed down with fresh water and dried before they are returned to you the owner or their kennel.

A full health check and referral from your veterinary surgeon before the first swim is advisable.

Your dog will also be given a health check by our kennel staff before each swimming session and after.
